KAY COLE TRIPLE THREAT AUDITION WORKSHOP

Posted in Uncategorized by Administrator on the April 16th, 2010

She is one of the busiest people I know – I think she has three shows running right now. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
BUT we’ve nabbed her for a great workshop on May 10.

We’re calling it Kay’s Triple Threat workshop because she is, in fact, a true triple threat (actually more like a quadruple threat).

On top of singing the most beautiful line in the most beautiful song in the most beautiful show ever, Kay directs and choreographs all over the country and abroad. In addition to A Chorus Line, she was in original casts of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and many many more Broadway shows.

The afternoon/evening will start with a dance audition, move to acting and finally singing. Bring dance clothes, a monologue, contemp. or classical no more that two minutes in length, and 32 bars of an uptempo and a ballad. An accompanist will be provided. In addition, we will be filming your audition and you will receive a dvd of your work with an individual critique from Kay.

JOANNA

JOANNA

So here’s the scoop – if you use your voice to make a living or have real aspirations to use your voice to make a living, Joanna’s workshop is an absolute necessity.

Speech pathologist, MFA Acting Cal Arts, singer, voice teacher – Joanna has made her career about undertanding the vocal instrument.
Five years ago, after a serious vocal wobbly, I had the chance to work with her at Cedars. I kept hoping for more sessions from my insurance company because I truly learned more about my voice from working with Joanna than I had from years and years of voice class.
Saturday’s workshop includes – the physiology of the voice, vocal health, Fitzmaurice work – based on bel canto voice school ideas, amazing stuff! – and a one-on-one chance to work with Joanna.

An amazing artist

Posted in Uncategorized by Administrator on the January 29th, 2010

Thanks to my friend, director Randee Trabitz, I met Tony Abatemarco. Randee enlisted us both to act in a three person Electra performing in Delphi for the 2500th anniversary of Sophocles’ birth. Our Electra was a hoot (if that’s possible) with Tony playing my mother, my sister, my brother and my step-father. I still have dreams about him in a Being John Malkovich vain in which everyone I meet is being played by Tony Abatemarco.

DO NOT MISS the chance to work with this amazing artist. He has acted all over the country and in Europe, directed on Broadway and, most recently, in London’s West End. He is a magical teacher and one of my favorite people…
